Discover Veli Lošinj from the Sea – Our Home, Your Adventure

As you've probably already read on our website, Active Lošinj was founded in Veli Lošinj back in 2018. The founder, Luka, is—unsurprisingly—from Veli Lošinj. Just like our trusted guide, Mateo. Why is that important? Because when you’ve spent your whole life on this island—especially in Veli—you don’t just know the place. You feel it. And we believe there's no better team to show you the beauty of our hometown.
And what better way to explore it than from the sea—its most stunning and peaceful side?
This kayaking adventure begins at Camping Village Poljana, where our current base is located. After a short safety briefing and introduction to the kayaks and equipment, you'll be ready to paddle. For this experience, we recommend single kayaks for the best maneuverability, and you'll be paddling with top-quality gear by Kayak Design.
As we make our way toward the center of Veli Lošinj, you'll be treated to a breathtaking view of St. Anthony’s Church, rising gracefully from the sea—it’s even more impressive from the water. The charm of Veli from this perspective is truly one-of-a-kind.
Our next stop? The unforgettable Rovenska Bay. Words don’t do it justice, so we’ll let the bay speak for itself. Here, you’ll have time to swim and enjoy lunch at one of the local seaside restaurants.
After a refreshing break, we’ll paddle out into the open sea and head back toward Mali Lošinj. If we're lucky, we might even be joined by curious dolphins or catch a glimpse of tuna hunting in the distance.
Yes, it’s a long story—but it’s hard to describe our beloved Veli in any fewer words. Mateo and I, Luka, have spent a combined 65 years here, and this place still takes our breath away.
Join us on this unique kayaking journey, and let us share with you why we truly believe this is the most beautiful corner of the island—of Croatia—of the continent—and maybe even beyond 🌎
